Snowfall Javascript effect

Past entries

Edited on Nov 22nd : it appears that there were some problems integrating this script to other websites. I have edited and tried the new code, and it should be working now. All you have to do is to download the new script. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hello everyone,

Today I would like to show you a small script I've written.

As you may have already seen on several websites during December, there are fancy scripts to display nice effects like snowfall, so I've decided to make my own one.

This script is using jQuery (a Javascript library), and therefore should be running on all major browsers.

If you wish to use this script for your website, you are free to download it and/or to modify it to match your needs.

You can download it here.

Installation instructions

To install this script on your website, just follow these steps :

  1. Include jQuery to you web page : you can use shared repositories, like Google, by adding the following code to your web page :
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js"></script>
  2. Download the script (right click > Save target as...) and add it anywhere on your web server.
  3. Import the script to your page by adding the following code :
    <script type="text/javascript" src="<SCRIPT_FOLDER>/snow.js"></script>
    Don't forget to replace <SCRIPT_FOLDER> with the actual folder where you saved the script.
  4. Run the script by adding the following code :
    <script type="text/javascript">
    	s = new Snow('http://remvst.com/uploads/js/snow/flake.png');
    	s.startSnowing();
    </script>
    Don't forget to replace <FLAKE_IMAGE_PATH> with the actual flake image path.

That should be enough. If any further help is needed, just contact me and I'll be pleased to help.
